“Don’t ask what tools you’re using, ask what in your organisation is still not learning.”

AI isn’t just a technology; it’s a layer of management.” Rui Gomes shifts the conversation from tools to governance. Organisations are used to managing systems that follow rules. AI changes that — now we are dealing with systems that learn, evolve, and make decisions.
The instinct is to focus on urgency and short-term adoption, but that misses the point. “We must prepare for the maturity and continuity of governing these learning systems.”
This requires new discipline, new visibility, and new responsibility. Governance is no longer about control. It is about ensuring that what learns, learns well — and that it remains aligned with the organisation over time.
