Dark Age of AI

Vasco Pedro

Vasco Pedro has spent his career at the frontier of Artificial Intelligence and language technologies, best known as the founder and CEO of Spinnable.ai, a platform building AI teammates, and previously the founder of Unbabel, which he led for over a decade. He holds a PhD in Language Technologies from Carnegie Mellon University and has worked in AI since the early days of his academic journey.

His work combines deep technology with entrepreneurial vision, always driven by the desire to create what does not yet exist.

In an era that many mistake for gradual evolution, the question is how we navigate what is actually a civilizational rupture. The warning comes not from critics but from the very people building these systems, and history has shown the pattern before: first darkness, then destruction, only then light.

As a speaker, Vasco frames destruction not as failure but as part of the cycle, and casts the role of institutions, leaders, and builders as shortening the path to abundance.

On the AI frontier, Vasco challenges organisations to recognise that the future is not guaranteed, and that it depends on how we navigate the rupture.
